Getting to Know Darrin Henson

Getting to Know Darrin Henson

By Vincent Haywood

It doesn't take very much too accurately describe Darrin DeWitt Henson. Darrin can be summed-up in three words, "Down to Earth".
After interviewing Darrin Henson for a brief ten minutes, I immediately came to the undeniable conclusion that growing up with his four brothers in the Bronx, New York had a lot to do with his broad level of knowledge, intelligence and skills in producing, acting, directing and even choreographing dance moves. His father was said to be a professional horse trainer while his mother was a stay-at-home mom homemaker. His first love was dancing and this became evident when Darrin was five. His brothers would frequently find him practicing dance moves in the backyard as well as in the mirror in between TV Shows. Darrin actually landed his first role as a dancer at the early age of ten years old when dancing at a birthday party to the music of James Brown. It was at this birthday party where an old man saw Darrin popping in the middle of the dance floor and Darrin was giving $5; at that moment Darrin knew what he wanted to do.
It's said that the Bronx was the birth place of break dancing and Darrin took advantage of it first by joining a New York dance group on a semiprofessional level; however, after graduating from High School Darrin parted ways with this group in order to join another group with Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Soon the face of Darrin Henson would be featured in the "Whatta Man" video by the then popular group Salt-N-Pepa which eventually opened door for him to brushing shoulders with the leading video personnel for Michael Jackson's videos, whom he studied as a kid. As much as Darrin loved dancing he grew restless working with choreographers and decided to become one himself.
The career of Darrin Henson as a choreographer was launched in 1990 with a number of stars; most notably, LL Cool J, Usher, The Spice Girls, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilar and the legendary Prince. This ironically became the year Darrin Henson opened the doors to his own dance company, Dance and Entertainment Workshop, and through these doors many of the aforementioned artists came marching through. Working with such mega-stars while becoming one his self, built a pretty impressive portfolio and plethora of awards; including the highly prestigious 2000 MTV Music Award for Best Choreography for N'SYNCs "Bye, Bye, Bye". The dancing skills of Darrin Henson earned him the lead actor role in the hit movie Stomp the Yard in 2007 where it was the number one movie in the country for two consecutive weeks. It's fair to say that Darrin Henson hasn't stopped "stepping" since.
In 2007, Darrin Henson also filmed The Express, where he starred as the renowned Jim Brown which also made a big smash on the Big Screen; not to mention, A Good Man Is Hard to Find and April Fools was also filmed in 2007.
After speaking briefly with Darrin Henson, it became apparent to me that Darrin was still working diligently to solidify his role as one the strongest entertainers, directors, choreographers, producers and connoisseur in the business with his upcoming projects, Blood Done Signed My Name and Tekken. Blood Done Signed My Name is based upon a true story which took place in Oxford, N. Carolina, in which Darrin Henson plays the role of Eddie McCoy, when the life of an African American vet is allegedly taken by neighborhood white business owner who becomes exonerated. The role of a local high school teacher is the main focus after civil strife is followed by his acquittal. On the other hand, Tekken is a soon to be released martial arts film based upon the game Tekken 6 where Darrin Henson plays Raven, an international intelligence agent who's considered to be equipped with highly trained skilled. Darrin's really looking forward to this film; and rightfully so, he's kicking...

TV Show

The Best TV Show Of All Time

By John Blowers

Everyone has their favorite TV show and it would be possible to debate forever about which ones shine above the rest. However, over the course of popular television, there have been a few shows that have stood the test of time and have been adored by audiences of all ages. Those shows are the ones that are serious contenders for the title of Best TV Show Of All Time.
It is difficult to imagine a show about surgeons in the midst of a war being funny, but that is exactly what M.A.S.H. was. The unique blend of drama and comedy had audiences laughing with the characters one moment and weeping for them the next. Although the show has been off the air for many years, it remains a favorite among audiences who watched it originally and those who are discovering it for the first time in syndication.
Just like M.A.S.H., The West Wing is a show that many people would not think could possibly be funny, and yet it was. Although it focused primarily on political themes and was, at its heart, a drama, it was known for having an underlying wit to the characters and storylines. The show had several writers over the years, but true fans believe that it was at its best when Aaron Sorkin was behind the wheel.
If the mark of the best TV show of all time is a show that integrated its way into everyday life, then there is no show that can compete with Seinfeld. The show coined a variety of phrases that people continue to use every day, such as "double dipping" and "close talker." Although it often discussed topics that were somewhat taboo, it was never offensive and was enjoyed by almost everyone who watched it.
The best TV shows of all time are the ones that have made audiences run a gamut of emotions, from laughter to sadness. Shows like Seinfeld are beloved by audiences because they have made their way into everyday conversation, even years after they stopped filming. Everyone has their own favorite, but these shows have made a lasting impression on popular culture.

How Russian Presidential Elections Work

How Russian Presidential Elections Work

By Craig A Weiser

Electing the President in Russia is pretty straight forward. There are no electors acting as middle-men like there are in the United States. The president is elected directly by the Russian voters. The candidate who receives more than fifty percent of the vote is elected. If no candidate gets more than fifty percent, a runoff election is held approximately two weeks later.
The runoff election is held between the two candidates who received the most votes in the first election. The candidate with the most votes in the runoff election is elected. This is the basic top-two runoff electoral method for single winner elections.
Russian presidential elections have a few unique traits about them:

  • Russia has nine times zones, which means that the last polling stations close nine hours after the first polling stations do. If results from the first parts of the country are aired as they come in, it could affect voting behavior in parts of Russia, where the polling stations are still open.
  • There are no "vice-presidential" candidates or even a Vice-President at all in Russia. If a Russia President dies, resigns or is forced to leave office, the Russian Prime Minister takes his or her place.
  • The fairness of Russian elections has been a topic of controversy especially in the last few elections. The governing party has been accused of manipulating the vote and coercing opposition candidates not to run in the election.
A candidate is eligible to run for president if they are a Russian citizen thirty-five years old or older. They must also have had their main residence in Russia for at least ten consecutive years or more.
The President is elected for a six-year term. They cannot server more than two terms in a row. This length of the Presidents term was increased from four years to six years in December 2008. The first President to have a six-year term is the president elected in the year 2012.
The President of the Russian Federation may be forced to leave their office before the end of their term. This must be done through an impeachment process. The process is started by the Russian Duma, the lower house of parliament. If two-thirds of its members decide the president should be impeached, then the upper house, the Federal Council, will be called upon to vote on the impeachment. The President is considered impeached and thus forced to leave office, if two-thirds of the Federal Council vote for the Presidents impeachment. The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation must confirm the impeachment.

IOS 5

Key New Features of Apple's IOS 5

By Chandra Heitzman

Released on October 12, 2011, iOS 5 offers over 200 new features for users of Apple's iPhone, iTouch, iPad, and Apple TV. Though many of them will go unnoticed by the average user, iOS 5 offers several key upgrades over its predecessor. These upgrades focus on ease of use, accessibility, and convenience.
First and foremost, users can finally sever their tether to the personal computer: iOS 5 is completely wireless out of the box. Apple devices will update all software and sync independently, and iCloud also offers wireless data storage and backup. Once stored, users can access it from any iOS device. The first 5 GB of data storage are free, and the most prevalent data such as apps, movies, and music do not count against the storage limit.
Users will applaud the new notification system that finally abandons the chronically interrupting dialogue boxes for the less intrusive system used by Apple's competitors. Users now receive all notifications with a small banner on the top of their screen, and one swipe allows full examination of all of them. iOS 5 then groups all notifications by their relevant applications, sorts them by time, and allows the owner to launch the application directly from the notification screen. Users can customize the notifications to include or ignore things like weather, news, stock, email, instant messages, and so forth.
Owners with full schedules and no secretary can rely on the new location-based reminder system. For example, a user can create a reminder to "pick up lunch meat and paper towels" at a local grocery store, and iOS 5 will chime in with a reminder whenever the user approaches the location. Furthermore, iCloud allows users to update all of their iOS devices with new calendar information from any single one.
For photographers, iOS 5 offers enhanced camera control and coveted editing features. Since photo-worthy moments tend not to announce themselves, users can quickly activate the camera directly from the lock screen. The volume-up button serves as the shutter release. Apple also added digital camera staples like red-eye reduction, rotating, and cropping. In addition, Photosteam uses iCloud to automatically upload photos to all of the user's iCloud devices and desktop PCs.
Apple also chose to embrace Twitter by fully integrating it into iOS 5's camera, maps, Safari, and photos. Once a user has properly configured their username and password, it's possible to Tweet directly from all enabled applications, frequently with the touch of a single button.
Finally, those with magazine subscriptions will take advantage of easy access of all of them within Newsstand. The application acts more like a folder than a traditional application, and the device automatically downloads new issues upon their release.
Enhancements to iOS will help keep Apple at or near the top of the smartphone market while providing mobile application developers with ample opportunities to expand the limits of what's possible with mobile. The real winners, of course, are the users, who benefit not only from enhancements to the operating system, but also to the wealth of iOS applications which are available in the App Store.

Introduction to Islamic Banking

By Sheikh Umer Sohail

The most distinguishing feature of the Islamic economic system is the prohibition of interest. Islamic economic principles have prominently been applied in financial industry especially in banking. Islamic Finance is growing in multiple dimensions and is now spreading in other financial sectors like insurance, structured finance, project finance, mutual funds, syndicated finance, investment banking etc. On the geographical level too, Islamic banking has grown from Middle East to Europe and now is well positioned in South Asian markets as well.
Shariah compliance also ensures Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ethical compliance. Islamic banks do not conduct business with companies producing tobacco, alcohol or engaged in business of gambling, casino, nightclubs, prostitution etc. This mechanism has given Islamic banking the name of 'ethical banking' in Europe.
The balance sheet of Islamic banks is capable of taking financial shocks. Islamic banks are not obliged to give fixed return to their depositors and general creditors. The creditors, shareholders and depositors share and participate in the bank's business. Therefore, if incase, there is a shock on asset side (NPL increasing), Islamic banks will be able to share this loss with their depositors and shareholders.
Islamic banks cannot rollover loans. Therefore, the packaging and repackaging of loans and then issuing more and more debt securities on the back of these non performing loans cannot legally happen in Islamic Banks. Islamic banks are obliged to have backing of assets in all their investments. Therefore, Islamic banks losses even theoretically cannot go beyond the value of the real asset.
Financing Operations of Islamic Banks
For the provision of finance, following modes are used in Islamic banking.
Diminishing Musharakah
In Diminishing Musharakah, the customer approaches the bank for joint purchase of an asset/property. It is referred to as 'Diminishing Musharakah' because the ownership stake of the tenant increases and that of the bank decreases or diminishes with the passage of time. The rent decreases as the ownership stake of tenant increases. The share of the bank in asset/property is divided into units. These units are purchased by the customer periodically until he has purchased all the units. After the customer has purchased all the units of the bank, he becomes the sole owner of the asset/property.
Murabaha Muajjal
Murabaha is a deferred payment sale transaction. Murabaha is used in working capital financing, SME financing and trade financing. The Process flow of Murabaha is as follows:
Islamic bank and the client sign a Master Murabaha Finance Agreement and an agency agreement. According to the agency agreement, the customer purchases goods from the supplier on bank's behalf. The customer undertakes to purchase the asset from the bank. It is a one-sided promise and undertaking. The bank pays the supplier and obtains title and physical/constructive possession of the asset. The customer signs a declaration that he has purchased the goods on bank's behalf and now he is willing to purchase the asset. After offer and acceptance, sale is executed and the customer pays the agreed price to the bank.
Ijarah
Ijarah means to give something on rent. In Ijarah, right of use of a property is transferred to another person for a consideration. The process flow is as follows:
The customer approaches the bank for obtaining an asset on lease. The customer undertakes to make periodic lease payments for the lease period. Lease agreement and agency agreement is signed. The customer as an agent to the bank buys the asset. Bank receives the title of the asset and pays the vendor. The bank leases the asset and the customer starts using the asset and pays rent for each period. In the end, the customer can purchase the asset from the bank by way of a separate purchase agreement.
Salam
It is used in financing goods and services that are not ready for spot sale and will have to be delivered later. In Salam, payment is spot, but the delivery is deferred. It is used in special cases to facilitate transactions. In current practice, it is used in currency trade as an alternative for bill of exchange discounting and in agriculture financing.
Istisna
It is used in financing goods that are not yet ready for sale and will have to be manufactured. Example includes tailoring services, architect services etc. It is an order to producer to manufacture a specific commodity for the purchaser. It is used in pre-shipment exports financing and usable in all other situations where goods have to be manufactured before sale.
Deposit Side Operations of Islamic Banks
The two main categories of deposits are checking accounts and non-checking accounts. Some accounts are remunerative and some are non-remunerative. For offering deposit products, following modes are used in Islamic banking.
Non-Remunerative Accounts
Current Account is an example of a non-remunerative checking account. The money deposited in such account is considered 'Qard' (Non-interest bearing loan). The money is invested in the fund by the bank. Bank utilizes the money to invest in Ijarah, Murabaha, Diminishing Musharakah, Salam, Istisna etc. The money is payable on demand.
Remunerative Accounts
Remunerative accounts can be checking i.e. Savings Account or non-checking accounts i.e. Term Deposits. The money is invested in the fund. The bank acts as 'Mudarib' i.e. 'Fund Manager' and the customer acts as 'Rabb-ul-maal' i.e. 'investor'.
The money is only invested in Shariah compliant assets. Bank utilizes the money to invest in Ijarah, Murabaha, Diminishing Musharakah, Salam, Istisna etc. The Weightage is assigned to each category of investment that is stated to the customer at the outset. Profit is declared at the start of the month for the previous month based on the weightage previously announced. Profit is paid out of the actual Gross Income.

Dog Show

A Brief History of the Westminster Dog Show

By Maria Elena
The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is an annual two-day conformation show held on the second Monday and Tuesday of February in New York City. Also referred to as the Super Bowl of dog shows, it is the second longest continuously held sporting event in the United States after the Kentucky Derby.
The Westminster Kennel Club was formed by a group of men who raised sporting dogs and every so often met at New York's Westminster Hotel. The logo of the Westminster Kennel Club is based on a photograph of a Pointer named Sensation. Sensation was owned by the club and was said to have the most perfect head of any Pointer during his time.
The First Annual New York Bench Show of Dogs took place on May 8-10, 1877 and featured over 1,200 dogs. Because of the event's huge success, a fourth day was added. The number of days was later reduced to three, then two. With a few exceptions, the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show has been held at Madison Square Garden since 1883. Although the show itself may last only a couple of days, the preparation for it begins at least a year in advance.
The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show attracts approximately 35,000 attendees, 4.6 million television viewers, and more than 400 journalists from over 20 countries. In 2002, 159 different breeds were represented, with the top five breeds entered being the Australian Shepherd, Dachshund, Rottweiler, Chinese Shar-pei, and Irish Setter.
The Best in Show award, which has been given out since 1907, is presented to the dog that receives top honors from three different judges. Dogs are judged on their general appearance, carriage, and condition. Judges also look at the color and texture of the coat; the forequarters, hindquarters, feet, and tail; and the dog's temperament.
The breed that has won Best in Show the most number of times is the Wire Fox Terrier, with the terrier group having the most winners in general. The only dog to be awarded Best in Show three times was a Smooth Fox Terrier named Warren Remedy. Still, many other breeds have also won Best in Show, ranging from the small Pomeranian to the gentle Newfoundland.

Refinance

Today, I would suggest that before you plan to refinance to do here.

Refinance

Is to borrow money to get the loan earlier. The borrower has the advantage over New pieces of the loan. The interest rate is the same. Benefits that this can reduce the principal faster. Lower monthly payments. But the lender would have to consider before deciding to refinance.

First, the interest rate will be cheaper to have the annuity to be paid. In each period decreases. Borrowers can save a chunk of the new loan is a loan to meet the goals of the. However, due to the refinancing of the cost. Therefore, the only interest that the (bank) is not only cheaper than new.

Secondly, the costs that the borrower must pay when refinancing was to consist of three parts that must be paid to the original financial institution, paid to financial institutions and paid to the Land Department.

Paid to financial institutions was the penalty if the loan is redeemed early, because most banks will charge a penalty if redeemed before maturity at a redemption, about 2 to 5 years if the loan is redeemed before the time limit will incur penalties. average rate ranging from 1 to 5% of the loan amount or principal balance. But there are some banks that do not charge such as the Bank and the Bank does not charge for the loan before the maturity of floating rate loans, etc.

Paid to financial institutions to include a fee.Fee for a loan. Most banks will charge about 0-3% of the loan, some of this charge. Appraisal value of about 0.25 to 2% of the appraised value of the land, or about 1,500 to 10,000 baht depending on the amount borrowed. And within the collateral is (for refinancing with the original financial institution may not pay the assessment) for fire insurance for about $ 2,000 per house worth a million (the cost to be paid to the bank, the old and the new individual. are not equally subject to the policies of the bank).

The land consists of fees paid to mortgage the amount of 1% of the amount of the loan (and the duty of 0.05% of the loan).
